Important, as human and AI trust constructs show similarities, but operate very differently. This is because both trust systems perceive the future differently. AI is not afraid to sacrifice. It has no concept of death, love or time. But humans do. We trust to survive, to be with what or who we emotionally care about. These concepts are irrelevant in AI trust systems, as they are inherently immortal and don't form emotional or irrational bonds like we do.
The question, therefore, is not whether we will still trust AI, but whether AI will trust us...

About the Author
Erik Schoppen lectures Brand Management, Design Innovation, Neuroscience, Psychology and Sustainable Behavior at Hanze University of Applied Sciences and other international institutes. His work concentrates on the intersection of Neuro and Behavioral Sciences, Branding, Sustainability, AI and Trust. As a trust expert he studies the effects of biological and technological trust systems on our brain and society. He researched the connection between Trust and Sustainability at the University of Groningen and holds a master in virtual media and technology (Advanced Studies in Emergent Media, Hanze University of Applied Sciences). He is a trusted advisor/lecturer of governments, large corporations and other organisations, and publicist and co-author of the trusted reference work Strategic Brand Management (BNL Edition, 2022).
