'TRUST IS MORE
IMPORTANT
THAN TRUTH'
ERIK SCHOPPEN - Brand Management Bestseller Author
And author of his upcoming book TRUST RESET®,
A Radical New Vision on Trust.
Trust Reset presents a new science-based approach to understanding trust, offering a holistic perspective that spans from the origins of organic life
to the potential future of AI.
To understand the concept of trust in our modern society, you have to peel back all the layers to our ancient core which forms the foundation for all other, later-developed levels of trust.
These insights provide a better understanding of how trust systems developed in all organisms, from the earliest lifeforms to today, and how they may function in artificial intelligence (AI). The book is not specifically about AI, but discusses its impact on our future trust in society.
Important, as human and AI trust constructs show similarities, but operate very differently. This is because both trust systems perceive the future differently. AI is not afraid to sacrifice. It has no concept of death, love or time. But humans do. We trust to survive, to be with what or who we emotionally care about. These concepts are irrelevant in AI trust systems, as they are inherently immortal and don't form emotional or irrational bonds like we do.
The question, therefore, is not whether we will still trust AI, but whether AI will trust us...
I hope to provide answers to these questions in my upcoming book.

That Offers A Holistic View
On Trust
From the Ancient Micro...
When did survival mechanisms we associate with trust appear? And how do these old structures still influence our lives today?
To the Modern Macro...
Trust is a cyclical process to pass regained and renewed trust to newer generations. But what if AI radically alters the course of our future?

Trust Reset: Discussing Modern Theories on Trust - Podcast
My new podcast is a comprehensive exploration of trust, starting from its molecular origins and extending to complex social and digital systems, to its implications on a planetary level. In this first episode an introduction into my trust research projects through the last 30 years (combining art, design, branding, psychology, science and technology), discussing my early work that explored trust ethics and online privacy in the nineties to the neuroscience and AI developments of today - moderated by two enjoyable virtual (AI) hosts who reflect on my personal life (NotebookLM generated the conversation based on the first chapter of my book).
Rethinking Trust: A Radical New Vision, From Molecular Origins to Global Systems - Podcast
In episode 96 of our TrustTalk podcast we have Erik Schoppen as our guest talking about his forthcoming book "Trust Reset: A Radical New Vision on Trust" and the need for a new perspective on trust theories. He believes that traditional theories are insufficient in the face of rapid technological advancements and global changes. His upcoming book integrates new insights from biological and artificial research, offering a comprehensive view on trust that spans from its molecular origins to complex social and digital systems. We also discuss the future of trust and the role of AI.
Bridging Biological and Artificial Trust Systems - Indept Interview
In this interview Erik Schoppen delves into the complexities of trust from both biological and artificial perspectives. He discusses cognitive, affective, and behavioral trust, and their evolutionary origins. He also explores the differences between biological neurochemical systems and binary computer systems, and highlights the challenges and implications of integrating artificial intelligence into our trust frameworks. Discover how sustainable future and social equity can be influenced by advanced AI systems, and the importance of maintaining human control and emotional richness in this rapidly evolving technological era.
The Most Important Questions in the Debate of AI: What makes AI different from us as humans and can we trust each other? - Doc
In this documentary Jerry Hall interviews the foremost scientists, thinkers and futurists regarding their vision on Decentralised AI at the Beneficial AGI Summit 2024 in Panama. Erik Schoppen explains (at 17:00 min) that AI has no concept of love or death (as they are emotional/spiritual aspects that give meaning and value to life), nor the will to survive based on mutual trust with respect to life.
